Tell Congress to Increase Nature-Based Solutions

ASLA is working with Representative Nikema Williams (GA) to pass the Water Infrastructure Sustainability and Efficiency (WISE) Act. This legislation would increase the use of nature-based solutions to improve water management.

This measure would allow states and localities to use portions of their Clean Water State Revolving Fund (CWSRF) specifically for nature-based solutions or green infrastructure projects that address water and stormwater management issues. The CWSRF is one of the largest federal funding sources for landscape architects to plan and design water infrastructure projects.

“The WISE Act will ensure that more communities will have access to green infrastructure and nature-based solutions to address their water and stormwater management issues. As a result, communities most in need will have resources to experience less flooding, enjoy cleaner drinking water, and access healthier recreational water bodies. We urge Congress to pass this measure,” said Torey Carter-Conneen, CEO, American Society of Landscape Architects.
