About the Project:
The former New York City Farm Colony, a 45-acre poor farm and landmarked site, has stood vacant since the 1970s. The site and its historic buildings will be transformed into the Landmark Colony, an age-targeted development with approximately 350 units. A sustainable, historically-sensitive landscape design for the 17-acres of open space creates a context for the Landmark Colony community, respecting the past and guiding the future. The new landscape intertwines traditional agricultural land patterns with the rich variety of woodland species found in this region of the Staten Island Greenbelt, artfully drawing reference from the site’s distinct development period.
