About the Project:
This groundbreaking collaboration studied large-scale harbor-wide strategies for coastal protection for the City of NY post-Sandy. The consulting team worked together to bridge science and design, “green and gray” approaches, and integrated an iterative modeling process on a “fast track” schedule to design, site, model, and analyze these systems, and to weigh cost-benefit scenarios for an array of hard and soft resiliency measures under multiple storm and sea level rise conditions. This resulted in strategic advice and design recommendations that contributed significantly to NYC’s Special Initiative on Rebuilding and Resiliency (SIRR) award winning report titled “A Stronger, More Resilient New York” – released only six months after Hurricane Sandy.
