Outerseed Shadow (OSS) Project, is a small non-profit organization that partners with community members to build gardens in underserved communities in NYC, and provides free, bilingual and multigenerational programming around food, heritage, cultural identity, nutrition and medicinal uses of herbs. OSS currently has two gardens and has plans to expand to more locations over the next few years and continue growing the programming to benefit more communities around the city.
They have a small board who periodically meet with and advise the two founders who run OSS. They are currently looking for more board members and we have a particular interest in people who are familiar with the kind of work OSS does and might help us with fundraising, community engagement and outreach, partnership and expansion, etc. Our current board is a mix of people with backgrounds and expertise in policy, urban planning, arts and culture, and we’re interested in diversifying our board with more community representation and more people who can help grow the organization.
They are interested in connecting with professionals who might be interested in board service, and/or donating time and technical experience to advancing OSS’s work and mission.
