The American Society of Landscape Architects Fund (ASLA Fund) proudly presents Teaching Environmental Humanities through Landscape Architecture, a pioneering initiative funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities. Launching in summer 2025, this program will offer two immersive week-long workshops for educators across the country, each designed to bring landscape architecture into the heart of K-12 humanities education. Through site visits, hands-on learning, and expert-led discussions, teachers will explore how landscape architecture intersects with history, culture, and environmental stewardship. By engaging directly with urban landscapes and cultural landmarks, educators will learn how to integrate environmental humanities into their curricula, enriching students’ understanding of the histories and stories embedded in the landscapes around them. This initiative empowers educators to weave elements of history, storytelling, and ecological awareness into their classrooms, cultivating students’ appreciation for how landscapes reflect and sustain the values of an equitable and democratic society.
