Dirtworks – Landscape Designer

Dirtworks Landscape Architecture is seeking a Landscape Designer with 1-3 years experience. You will join our team of 9 based in New York with a flexible work from home policy. Current projects include public parks, public housing, private residences, healthcare, higher ed, ecological restoration, and more. Candidates should be interested in working on a wide range of projects with varying scopes and levels of oversight, at a fast pace with a positive and collaborative attitude. This is a full-time salaried position with benefits.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

 

    • With support from senior staff, manage projects independently and as part of a team, from proposal through design and construction ph
    • Perform site inventory and analysis, including site photography, accessibility, opportunities and constraints analysis, grading, drainage, and environmental analysis.
    • Generate creative design graphics, including site plans, sections, perspectives, and vignettes via hand and computer generated techniques.
    • Assist or lead the design development of sites of varying sizes, including grading, planting, layout, materials and details.
    • Create detailed construction submittal documents, including construction drawings, specifications, cost estimates, and project manuals.

 

SKILLS REQUIRED

 

    • 1-3 years landscape architecture working experience
    • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Adobe Creative Suite required
    • Proficiency in LandFX and hand graphics would be useful
    • Strong organizational, communication, project and time management skills
    • Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously
    • Collaborative approach with the ability to implement feedback
    • Basic knowledge of construction principles; some experience with landscape construction observation a plus
    • Basic knowledge of New York native plant materials and sustainable design practices
    • 3D rendering a plus

 

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

 

    • Some local travel to project sites required
    • Must be authorized to work in the US and live in New York state
    • Dirtworks is not able to provide visa sponsorship at this time
