Hargreaves Jones in New York and Hargreaves Associates in Cambridge, MA are seeking talented designers to assist in the realization of several new projects in the US and abroad that include urban parks, plazas, master plans, resiliency design and sustainability design, through all phases. We seek creative, smart people who are comfortable in an open studio, collaborative environment and who have good communication skills. Writing is a plus. The ability to think three dimensionally is critical. Expertise with Adobe programs, AutoCad and 3D programs is essential. Other duties may include assisting in marketing and proposal efforts. Some travel will be required. Candidates should hold a MLA or BLA. Salary will be based on experience.

Brooklyn Bridge Park Corporation (“BBP”) is the not-for-profit entity responsible for planning, construction, maintenance and operation of Brooklyn Bridge Park, an innovative 85-acre self-sustaining waterfront park stretching 1.3 miles along Brooklyn’s East River shoreline.   Since 2010, BBP has constructed and opened more than 55 acres of new park space, reconnecting the public to the waterfront and providing world class open space and recreational opportunities.

 

Brooklyn Bridge Park is seeking a focused, energetic, organized, and experienced candidate for the position of Capital Project Manager.  Reporting to the Vice President of Capital Operations, the Capital Project Manager will contribute to the day-to-day management of landscape construction activities and maintain schedules of capital projects.  The successful candidate will have excellent planning and communication skills, and demonstrated success in managing design and construction projects within New York City.

 

Job Description

 

Working closely with the VP of Capital Operations, the Capital Project Manager actively participates in oversight of construction management of BBP Capital projects.  The Capital Projects Manager assists the VP of Capital Operations by coordinating and communicating with internal staff and external stakeholders by creating project descriptions and presentation material for funding opportunities and community outreach.  The Capital Project Manager will manage  independent projects as they arise.  This is a unique opportunity to be a key part of the construction and operation of a world-class, innovative, and transformational public space.

 

Responsibilities

 

The Capital Project Manager will work with BBP’s staff, owner’s representatives and construction managers, to shepherd capital projects through all stages of development.  Key daily responsibilities will include:

  • Provide support to the VP of Capital Operations in all phases of capital projects from  preconstruction, design, permitting, and construction through to close-out.
  • Manage, monitor and update capital project budgets and schedules.
  • Collaborate with capital projects team of staff, consultants, and landscape architects to deliver a high quality public landscape.
  • Manage funding requests, construction invoices and disbursements from the City of New York and other sources.
  • Work with VP of Capital Operations, VP of Strategic Partnerships and other key members of BBP team to develop strategies for project coordination and public outreach including developing presentations and presentation materials.

 

Skills

 

A successful candidate will be highly organized, focused, and detail oriented. Key qualifications include:

  • At least 3 years of relevant experience with high-quality, large scale capital projects in New York City or other urban environments.
  • Degree in construction management, landscape architecture or urban planning is strongly encouraged.
  • Knowledge and understanding of construction documents, contracts, and scheduling.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and an ability to synthesize complex issues and present them clearly.
  • Familiarity with government procurement and contracting.
  • Impeccable attention to detail.
  • Relevant experience in project management for public agency, architecture/engineering firm, private developer, construction management, or non-profit organization.
  • Proficiency with MS Project, Excel, Word.  Adobe Acrobat and Illustrator a plus.
  • Valid driver’s license
