The 2026 Waterfront Conference will convene leaders from government, industry, science, and community sectors to tackle one of the most pressing challenges of our time: how to plan, design, and build resilient waterfronts in the face of accelerating climate impacts and shrinking political and financial support. This year’s theme emphasizes three critical realities:
- Resilience as the core priority for waterfronts and coastlines.
- The uncertainty of political and funding landscapes, requiring new strategies and partnerships.
- The need for innovation, systemic planning, and community-driven solutions to ensure our waterfronts remain safe, accessible, and adaptive.
Through dynamic panels, interactive workshops, and case studies, participants will explore actionable strategies for governance, financing, community resilience, and systemic planning. From permitting reform for nature-based solutions to lessons learned from other coastal cities, the conference will provide a roadmap for future-proofing our waterfronts – no matter what challenges lie ahead.
