ADDRESS
For the lecture at New York Botanical Garden Dr. Sue Stuart-Smith will be joined by her husband Tom Stuart-Smith. This is a special joint event with Tom Stuart-Smith on Sue Stuart-Smith’s speaking tour.
Tom and Sue Stuart-Smith are one of the most distinguished and influential couples in the world of gardens and horticulture. Tom’s awarding-winning garden designs have long been acclaimed, and Sue is a prominent psychiatrist and psychotherapist. Her bestselling book, The Well-Gardened Mind was published in 2020 and has since been translated into 17 languages. The book explores the benefits of gardens for people’s mental and physical health.
A major source of inspiration for both Tom and Sue has been their garden, The Barn, which they created together over the last 35 years at their home in Hertfordshire, UK. Their talk will weave together the story of their garden, their family life, and their working lives with a focus on therapeutic and community-based projects and, in particular, a new community garden they are making in an orchard at their home.
