The daylong Second Wave of Modernism IV: Making Space within Place conference, in Dallas, TX, sponsored by The Cultural Landscape Foundation, Texas Chapter ASLA, the Dallas Architecture Forum and others will be held on Friday, October 4. It will highlight Dallas’ leadership in projects that balance design with natural and cultural values and the imperative to deal with climate change and will showcase the city’s public-private initiatives and recent innovations in creative management and stewardship.
Join us for an opening reception on Thursday, October 3, to mingle with conference speakers and attendees while enjoying the view from the terrace that overlooks the Nasher Sculpture Garden. The day after the conference offers several opportunities to attend expert-led tours of new projects examined during the conference as well as iconic projects in Dallas, including a tour of the “healing” gardens of the Southwestern Medical District; a tour of the Calatrava bridges, the wetlands and more in Harold Simmons Park; mobile workshops in Klyde Warren Park, Belo Garden, Main Street Garden and more with speakers who presented these sites at Friday’s conference.
