Please plan to join ASLA-NY for a social and educational group-sketching experience led by landscape architect and experienced urban sketcher Richard Alomar. No matter your ability level, this Sketch Walk is designed to encourage learning, creativity and connection while using observation and drawing to study NYC’s public landscapes.
The architecture and landscape of New York City is constantly changing. Commercial and residential development along the West Side, new parks throughout the boroughs and an array of transportation and waterfront proposals mark a trajectory of intense urban development. These changes are another layer on New York’s rich and dense urban history.
This engaging education session, organized for New York Landscape Architects, Designers and Students, uses sketching to explore a series of new and established urban spaces. Documentation using a variety of sketching techniques will be used to discuss architectural and landscape resilience, urban and site design, and materiality.
