Coasts, Oceans Ports & Rivers Institute presents: Coastal Engineering Successes and Challenges Since Hurricane Sandy
This lecture will present lessons learned from Hurricane Sandy by The US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE). Attendees will learn about USACE’s immediate response Post-Sandy to facilitate rebuilding projects as well as the revised design criteria to address climate resilience in new construction. The culmination of lessons learned is detailed in USACE’s North Atlantic Coast Comprehensive Study (NACCS). The outcomes and Coastal Storm Risk Management tools provided in the NACCS report will be discussed. In addition, two case studies will be presented to underscore these recent coastal engineering developments.
