Where: W. 182nd St. between Amsterdam and Audubon Avenues
What: The Green Corridor 182 Park(ing) Day activation transforms the entire block between the school buildings of WHEELS and I.S. 143 to demonstrate the need for a healthier, safer, and more engaging streetscape for learning and to inspire the next generation of environmental stewards, landscape architects and planners. W. 182nd Street will become a green learning street to promote community and environmental wellness to bring awareness of the elementary student-led initiative of a “Clean Air Green Corridor”. The event will set the stage as an Open Street model, with a pop-up park, educational activities, and games.
This event is in collaboration with WHEELS, Futures Ignite, American Society of Landscape Architects New York Chapter (ASLA-NY), NYC Public Design Commission, NYC Planning, American Planning Association New York (APA-NY), and Open Plans.
We will hold virtual planning meetings in July and August and a work session in early September. We seek creative team members to help plan and work with students on the event day.
