About the Project:
Yolanda Garcia Park is a one-acre site in the Melrose section of the Bronx in New York City, surrounded by new-multifamily properties with a serious lack of recreational opportunities. Through involvement with the community, and project stakeholders, the team worked collaboratively to create a lush park for a neighborhood with virtually no public green space. Amenities include a playground, a spray shower area, a shade structure, a wide variety of passive seating areas, and several large green spaces. The playground is comprised of fully accessible toddler and preschool units, and more challenging climbers for older children.
