The public realm for the Manhattan West development is a unique two-block site on the west side of Manhattan, across from the historic Farley Post Office. The project is comprised of a complex of towers (north and south) framing the central public space. The primary public open space is an elevated 2-acre plaza at the center of the development, which hosts events and is flanked by retail. This central space is part of a larger urban gesture to knit together the existing Midtown business district with the newly developed Hudson Yards.

Manhattan West forms a major new public realm at the heart of this ambitious mixed-use development connecting 9th and 10th Avenues and 31st and 33rd Street. This interconnected network of spaces provides a diverse range of spatial experiences including outdoor dining, arts and cultural programming, intimate retreats for rest and recreation, expansive areas for gatherings and celebrations, a variety of welcoming points of entry, and elevated vantage points for viewing. The landscape is designed to be unified, integrated, and continuous, supporting year-round arts and event activations. At the same time, it remains diverse, layered, and textured, responding thoughtfully to the surrounding retail and lobby spaces, while ensuring a rich and engaging urban environment.
