About the Project:
With sweeping views of the East River and the Whitestone and Throggs Neck Bridges, this project for NYC Parks transformed an inaccessible former municipal landfill along the Bronx shoreline into an accessible, resilient, and ecologically dynamic, 20-acre waterfront park.
The project stabilized the shoreline, restored ecological diversity with new wetlands and grasslands, and remediated a landfill to make a safe park for public recreational use.
The park experience is focused on the plantings and the views through the deliberate simplicity of a single undulating path, simple materials, and small seating overlooks at the new 1.6 acre salt marsh and the waterfront.
