On the surface, the project was straightforward – create a landscape for a client’s new home. At its core, it was a challenge to blend their highly refined modern design sensibilities with a strong desire to restore the properties degraded connection to its greater natural context. It had also been effectively wiped away by generations of agricultural intervention, which had eventually given way to a wave of subdivisions and structural development. 

The design aims to reintroduce natural systems to the site, which had been stripped of its ecological purpose and function. The result is a biodiverse and resilient landscape, which grounds the new home, and appropriately connects that site into its larger environmental context.
