Our Executive Director, Kathy Shea, recently participated in The Rockefeller Foundation’s “Building Urban Resiliency” Innovation Forum. The day included presentations from leaders such as Mayor Mitch Landrieu of New Orleans, Mayor Khalifa Sall of Dakar, Mayor Jean Quan of Oakland, Vice Mayor Claudia Restrepo of Medellín, and Dr. Thomas Frieden of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control about their past experiences, innovative ideas and suggested approaches to building resilience. The attendees then convened into small groups and shared their expertise and ideas on how cities can build resilience to the shocks and stresses they face.
The first group of cities who will be part of the 100 Resilient Cities network were announced at the event. These cities will receive technical support and resources for developing and implementing plans for urban resilience over the next three years.
