The ASLA-NY Education and DEI committees regularly join forces to do outreach and promote Landscape Architecture to NYC high school students at various career days. On May 16th, DEI Chair Taewook Cha attended and manned a table at the John Bowne High School Agriculture Career and College Fair!

Good Morning,

Although this message is a few days overdue, I wanted to extend my sincere thanks to each of you for participating in this year’s Agriculture Career and College Fair at John Bowne High School. Despite the rain toward the end of the event, it was a tremendous success.

Our students gained valuable insights into the many pathways available to them after completing our program. One of the most exciting takeaways was hearing from students on Monday who shared that the fair opened their eyes to new possibilities—they came in with one plan and left with several new options to consider.

It was also wonderful to witness the networking and collaboration that took place among participants during lunch. This event continues to be one of my favorites each year, and your presence and expertise are what make it so impactful.

Please feel free to share this message with any colleagues who attended with you and may not be on this email list. Additionally, I welcome any feedback you might have—what worked well, what could be improved, or any suggestions for future events.

I truly hope you’ll consider joining us again next year, and I look forward to collaborating with you in other capacities throughout the school year and summer.
