My experience at the conference was grounded in my observations of the natural and built environment.
Being a part of the BIPOC community and witnessing Ayana Elizabeth Johnson speak on the influences of our profession in the climate space and the potential we have as a collective to mend ecological infrastructure weighed heavily on me. It was inspiring to see a Black woman of such caliber speak on global issues that directly impact BIPOC communities. Her lecture challenged me to consider ways that New York City Parks can incorporate systems thinking in our projects and how I can provide my community with accessible resources and knowledge to help combat climate change.
