AVERY TSAI

Avery is a 13-year-old climate advocacy activist that has been fighting for the planet since she was 8 years old. She learned about feminism and activism from preschool, and she joined the Women’s March in Washington, D.C. as her first protest. Through volunteering at climate refugee drives, she became passionate about environmental justice. Avery was inspired by Greta Thunberg and joined the local chapter of Thunberg’s Fridays for Future. She is the youngest member of Extinction Rebellion NYC, a climate activist group that uses non-violent action to declare a climate and ecological emergency. Avery is drawn to using art to make the climate movement beautiful and impactful and is a member of Extinction Rebellion’s Arts Working Group.
In 4th grade, Avery started a Climate Kids Club to get her peers educated about the climate crisis. She has been featured in Kat Kid Adventure magazine, No Kill Magazine and her image and her activist cape have appeared in numerous media covering the climate movement. She believes that without immediate action the planet will become unlivable and that BIPOC communities, mothers and children will suffer most. She feels passionate about climate justice and wants to advocate for those living in vulnerable areas.
